Have you ever thought of merging with another magazine and taking this mainstream. There are Tramp, Talent or RWD that come to mind as you are high in both catergories and the third is well similar to Flavour.
I am loving this article on JD, its great its inspiring. I watch his drive and motivation to succeed and makes me check myself as an artist and entertainer to see what else I can do to push harder for what I want. Good one FLAVOUR I think this is definitely an article that must be read and will inspire many. JD has shown us what the UK industry may show us as impossible is actually POSSIBLE.

Flavour brings culture and inspiration to many of us young people, It not only helps us feel connected to our roots but also helps people see what more we have to offer to the creative and artistic community. I love Flavour events because i think it is important to support your local community and i never seem to stop being amazed by the talent it brings to light.
the magazine explains what’s new and hot, how many competitions there are for the girls.
it covers loads of topics for people from all ages and covers many topics.
its easy to read and shows us what can be achieved by anyone when they put their mind to it.
it shares peoples lives so their friends can see whats going on in the world, bringing culture, music, arts and every day live to your home.

I am so proud to be part of a generation, throughout the globe, who have accepted (and the americans who voted for) a black president.

These ladies am sure we will definitely be hearing more about them, because they have lots of talent, drive, beauty & personality ….
We all have something special, some might need coaching more than others to bring out the best, – however, having support & supportive people around you, believing in yourself, being determined, having faith, & a positive attitude goes a long way…
Of course we all know at the end of the night there can only be one winner and Congrats to Sasha…Its a great opportunity- work it girl…Make the best of it….

i found your blog intresting however the fact that obama is of dual heritage i feel has no bearing on the fact that he was made priesdent. Because the meer fact he has even half black parentage could just have easily been his downfall. I would also like to point out that i am dual parentage and i have had a many positive black men in my life.

I have many things to say and hope I’ll not sound too longwinded. This is a subject I happen to be passionate about. So here goes….
None of the undermentioned is said to cause personal pain, put down or discourage in any way whatsoever also. It is my hope and intention to uplift, support and encourage our black men. I’m of the view and belief, black people should be joining together to support our one another. Irrespective of whether we know each other in a close/personal way, have reached a moderate to high level of success or not. Again I say, this is solely my perspective. Apologies, If any offence is caused as it would be done unintentionally on my part.
This is to the reader of my contribution, how do you personally define a black man’s success? Do you think to be a successful black man is to have an abundance of money, power, respect, beautiful woman on your arm? I’m by no means implying there is a correct answer. Perhaps your view is one of none, one, a couple or a combination of all three of the above? Personally, I define a black man’s success as being a combination of the following things:
*He is happy and at peace with himself.
*He’s achieved his desired goal the one he originally set out to achieve in his life.
*Can attribute his success in part or whole to the inspiration of past/present black influential males.
*Is independant and creative in his own right.
*Participates, contributes, supports and encourages other black males for this generation and the future.
*Strives to inspire and remain a good role model for ALL black males, more so up and coming black youth.
*Is mindful of what message(s) he could be subconsciously highlighting and portraying.
*Mesmerizes others with a strong, focused, depth of character. Reflects this with his dedication and commitment to elevate other black males within his community.
*Is naturally talented or has studied a skill of which overtime he has now mastered. Passes that knowledge on to others to aid their shaping in life.
I often question the motives behind a black male wanting to strive towards personal success. From experience and some of the opinions of my black male friends. It would seem to be an assortment of reasons. Mainly to better themselves and to better the lives of those around them while ignoring all negative compulsive thoughts to resort to crime as a quick fix. Adversity presented itself along the way indeed, in different ways whilst on their journeys.
However, they say very openly to me they had friends who they believed were fortunate having stable families. Yet, the children of those families got into continuous trouble and some even ended up going nowhere. Even though this was going on around them it never steered them onto such paths. They believe this was due to their parent(s) methods of upbringing. I believe whatever adversity our black nubians experience it has not discouraged our black men of colour. It has enhanced their strength of mind, discipline and determination to be a success for themselves. While in tow also it has presented increased opportunity for us as black women to draw and enhance upon our own confidence, characters, respect, abilities, and strengths. The results being our black women are a positive, encouraging and strong support to our black men.
Barack Obama is a whole new debate as already mentioned by Sasha & the lady above me, for different reasons. In my opinion, Dual heritage does in part play a factor in the ability to relate with different cultures especially the most commonly highlighted and once forbidden cultures. Obama is supported by majority for many reasons and so in tow is the lovely Michelle Obama – a strong, intellectual, encouraging, empowered, elegant, supportive, black woman to the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT-ELECT for the USA. Our black ancestral men are men of character who have assisted and inspired AMERICA’S FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.
After speaking with my black nubian brothers who are a success in their own right and who’s stories dramatically contrast from each other. I’ve concluded in agreement there are those who derived particularly from impoverished families, experienced tradegy after tradegy – setback after setback (personal or extended to friends and/or other family members), or have come from either a dysfunctional or unbalanced background. Only having one out of two parents as their primary stable parent within the home. Some stortelling touched upon deteriorating Illness of one parent, mental health, death at a young age. The examples were varied.
Which brings me to the view I currently hold and pass onto to others to aid their learning and recieve a different perspective. I’ve witnessed black male friends who have had a solid upbringing not just from their mother’s, but also solely just from their father’s. In one or two stories they had been brought up without their mother. Their mother wasn’t present for different reasons which respectfully I shall keep close to my chest. For those who fitted into this category they have expressed an utmost love and respect for their fathers and view them as empowering responsible good men who stepped up. Not just for the future of them solely as young boys, but also in cases involving their siblings. It was irrespective of whether all the children were in fact biologically theirs or not, female or male.
Their father’s raised them similar to that of how a black woman would and done just as good a job. Holding similar views, solid morals and values they still hold and refer to as being their foundation to this day. They say having their fathers and/or their mothers who were aware of the history of black people also played an important part within their upbringing. I’m inclined to agree as I can relate to the history being self-taught within the family home. When I was growing up, I was blessed to have parents who read alot of history and made it a key part of our upbringing as children. My parents felt not enough reference was being made to black history specifically caribbeans, (no offence to those from the motherland), within my school. My parents just wished there would of been a more equal balance of black history. They felt the school should of been more supportive and open to creating a better balance amongst the different black cultures represented at that time within the school. They held the view exposing the children solely to history of Africans in Africa was taking away from the other ethnic cultures within the black community. Again, this opens up a further many debates such as: What black history topics do you think should be taught in todays curruculum? Do you think your childrens school is studying enough black history for your children to appreciate their heritage and strive to do better? Do you think there is a connection between black children knowing and studying black history and being a successful black person? Should schools make more of an effort to incorporate more black history topics and introduce a core black history & culture subject to be taught within the schools recognised as a GCSE? Do u agree or disagree with the statement ‘our children knowing their black history like the back of their hand could promote a change with our black youth culture and black and black crime?, Do you think there is a connection between black history, black males/youths of today and knowing their black history? and many more, etc. That come to my mind.
Refering back as I had deviated a little. Sorry got a little carried away! It gave my friends as children and grown men further understanding and boosted their confidence. They have come away with understanding that although one experiences hardship because of obstacles or in many instances stereotypes a black male can still rise, succeed, and be a good role model. It has made them stronger! They say without the obstacles and adversity it wouldn’t of shaped and molded them into the black men they are today. Women you can relate.
Recognising and attributing their gratitude and inspiration to their struggles & obstacles experienced. My friend once said he felt blessed to have wonderful, brave, courageous ancesters whose efforts have been an influence to us all. I agree. Especially young young black males. History demonstrates beautiful historical black men who since time began, have been magnificent black males -weve had inventers, mathematicians, scientists, men of political international importance, and more. I have to agree black men have excelled in the areas touched on by Sasha. However, the above is where it all began. Black people had to suppress their intelligience in order to not overshadow our then slave masters. But we had it down from way back when.
My nubian male friends have not let stereotypes, or what some would call the obvious or interpreted as negative factors against them, become an easy reason for them to give up on their dreams. Those black males have still managed to achieve against all odds & adversity. I too am blessed to have them as apart of my life. I’m honoured, hold high upon a pedestal, appreciate and am proud of what they represent as a black male within today’s society. I love you guys! :0)
My beautiful black nubians refered to their, spirituality, inner strength of both body and mind, inspiration drawn on from other black successful males, and a firmly cemented family upbringing as the main reasons they view themselves a success. Black males of today do have all the ingredients they need to be a success in their own right, and if an ingredient is missing in one’s life thats deemed personally vital. That ingredient is not unobtainable. It can still be obtained so as to be added to the cooking pot, meshed in amongst the other positive ingredients (attributes). The result: a positive black male of character whose motivated to strive for their personal success as well as others
The black man to me represents intelligience, beauty, creativity and strength in abundance. Just some of the attributes I have been privy to witness. It’s fascinating and I for one along with many am in awe also with their beautiful, uniquely, captivating, shades, contours, and shapes ………Uh hah! ….. These combined along with their various creative mind levels, skills of art and talent. :0) I am of the belief our black men are strong and inspirational brothers who we must continue to uplift, invest in by our own personal contributions, and support.
Black males please hear me when I say, those of you who may feel you are non-achievers, oppressed and are de-motivated can succeed to the level you wish and beyond! You have and can look at the journeys of our successful black males past and present for all the inspiration & encouragement you may need. Don’t die on the streets for nothing…if u die let your name be a legacy of remembrance for the right reasons. Bob Marley is a legacy. Martin Luther King is a legacy. Their names live on throughout time and history. We believe in you, I believe in you, keep believing in yourselves, we’re here supporting you, keep praying to the Almighty, keep striving. Lets take our attention off the negative reportings and concentrate on what we do best – being recognised as being unique amongst those respected and looked up to as the best of the best. Let’s exalt our black males. Catapult them towards the Heavens!!
God Bless u ALL my beautiful black nubian brothers!!!

Angela,
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I do feel however, that you need to refer to my reference to Barack Obama again. At no time did I state that people of Mixed raced heritage do not have positive, black male figures in their lives. I just refered to the fact that many people are split in their opinion of Barack as some deem him to be black, others deem him to be mixed raced.
It is also interesting to read that you are of dual heritage. I too have family members who happens to be of mixed raced origin. That person just so happens to be my Grandmother.
I have a large, predominantly white family settled in Jamaica, Canada and America . I also have family members on the other side who are Asian, my Father’s side.
I did not imply that you as a mixed raced person, do not have positive, black male’s in your life- I’m glad you do. However, you must recognise that from the the lengthly list of names of black males in my life. I was refering to the men in my circle.
The sole intention of my blog was to speak openly and positvely about the black males I know.
Please read the comment by my friend Caroline- maybe that will further convey what i was trying to portray.

Caroline, my nubian queen you speak very openly with great spirit and charactor about the Black man and I hope all Black women of all colours take a note out of your blog to understand they are the power behind a Black man.
Therefore he will step to do the right thing if he understands the true power remains with the Black queen and even though he is the King of the domain, (kingdom) he relies on your continued and unrelenting truth to guide him.
Angela, do not take offence to the touchy subject of Barack being of mixed race, Sasha did not question his dual heritage but more gave food for thought on what some none thinking people might bring to the table of arguement about why he has infact been elected as President of The United States.
I dont mix my words when I say he stands as Black man and talks with great pride as a Black man. Im exceptionally proud of his wife and believe he is very fortunate to have such a spirited back bone whom has supported him all the way.
We need more Black women like Sasha and Caroline, whom are unfraid to express themselves about how they feel about the Black man and their unconditional Support and Love despite his difficulities to reach his aspirations. Well done!!
The picture Sasha, describes of a Black man and woman wraped up together and intertwined, I actually have tattoed on my arm and NO I dont know Sasha.
I would like to finish by saying I have truely loved reading Caroline’s Blog and I hope this is the first of many on Flavour from you!!

Mike,
Thanks for your positive comments above, they were received in a respected and appreciated light.
I must clear up one misunderstanding though. The above blog is NOT my blog. It was written by my friend Sasha. I just responded to it as it’s a topic I feel passionate about and wished to comment ALOT on… Apologies once again!
It is Sasha who should be receiving the praise. Not just for her topic choice, but also the uplifting content & positivity she wrote with for us all to see, think on, express our opinions. appreciate and feel very proud of our race we are apart of. The tools are there for the black male to feel inspired, positive, focused and supported so he can achieve. The black woman also gains in many ways from supporting the black male.
I’m of the opinion we should ALL try to help elevate our one another. When your blessed pass your blessing on in some way onto others who may need uplifting or supporting. Whose self belief may be diminishing. You don’t even have to know them that well, but we must rise above the negativity out there and let go of any wicked acts or thoughts, envious behaviour, selfishness, and choose consciously the path of positivity, love, and true support..
OBAMA said ‘YES WE CAN’….SO LETS DO IT – MAKE A CHANGE!

I’ve always said that it’s one thing having the talent, but on it’s own, it really is not enough. This game is the game of the Music Business, that’s two words, MUSIC and BUSINESS.
For alot of us, we are well versed with the music side of things, but lack the business knowledge and acumen. Look after your business and the business will look after you!
I look forward to your forthcoming articles, more grease to your elbow and well done Flavour Mag! ~ Mr.P

What a breath of fresh air. Finally there has been a space given to air the untold views of many, through the eyes of a true and compassionate leader. Beauty and love are intrinsically linked and this artist expresses both. I resonate with the words and promote Art for ALL!

No, I don’t think you were asking for too much…Musiq’s performance wasn’t as great as it could have been, perhaps if his throat wasn’t hurting him so much?
Did you go to the Anthony Hamilton concert tho? Now that was a performance!!

Sizzla – is the Don, you know he don’t play when it comes to speaking his mind… something a lot of musicians these days are scared of doing.
Reggae Don on
April 9th, 2009 8:00 pm
That is soo so true – but the industry makes it hard for new musicians to speak there mind and sing what they really would like to sing, most artists these days a manufactured products of their record labels and end of being totally different from the vision they had in mind when they first started.
But can you blame them? we all have to eat – don’t we??
Leonard Foster on
April 9th, 2009 8:04 pm
I totally I agree with both of you – on one hand you want to be yourself and promote your music, but on the other hand if you don’t have a record deal, or you do have a record deal and they want you to be a certain way, then you have to go with your contract…

Very well written may I say. This short article has sumed up the MOBO awards very well.
‘However this time with a twist,’ engages the reader to read more, as this event is known throughout the world.
‘For the first time in history,’ should, I think, be changed (every year the awards are held at a different place, so it would be obvious that they will be taking place somewhere else, this only applies if the awards are held in different places every year. However if it is the same place every year then what you have wrriten is fine).

N Dubz are NOT appearing. their name has been removed from the line up and a call to LMHR organisers has just confirmed this although they have yet to make a formal announcement, leaving people to continue to buy tickets only to be disappointed when its updated in the next few days to say that N Dubz are no longer to be there. Shocking behaviour by LMHR and a wave of refunds for ticket holders to follow, no doubt!

as an initial starting point for anyone thinking about entering a modelling career, this article certainly give great guidance.
However, as a photographer at iDeLick Media, I have found that there has been a rise in usage of black models and general people for body types and general hand and leg modelling.
Some of the work I have been involved with favoured dark skin models as the items of jewellery and accessories contrast well. As I am use to taking art direction, I am only guessing that the logic for this favourable choice is apparent.
I’m also wondering now how all this will change when access to me is there an opportunity there? ed hardy men accessories

The fact she promotes she has a lawyer reviewing her work makes her acts even worse and makes this lawyer liable for aiding in the unauthorized practice of law. On the Jay-z beef i think Jigga don’t need to say a word anymore, The Game is a lost soul looking to play with the big boys and that diss track is weaker then Joe Budden’s diss track to Jigga and that was lame.
As for Venom film they need to correct if they think about about doing it, as Spider 3 was so crap.

As photographer I attended the 02 arena in a professional capacity to capture
the “GAME ON AT THE 02 “. It was great to see so many positive role models for young black youth, from players to media.
While editing my pictures, a young black teenager actually said to me” You’re the first black sports photographer I’ve ever seen”. I must admit, it made me feel quite sad. We chatted for 10 minutes about how he could get a foothold as a photographer. He was glued to every word I said. At the end off our conversation he shook my hand and returned to his seat .
As he walked away , I thought to myself “That boy has got what it takes to achieve anything he wants”.
The point I’m trying to make with these comments is , we must make time for our youth , whether they want to be Pops Mensah Bonsu, Lewis Hamilton or a surgeon, we must encourage, inspire and make time for them in order for them to achieve their goals ….

My friend saw this guy at one of the jongleurs posh Christmas parties a couple of years ago and said he was hilarious and keeps going on about how everyone should book a show. You can’t beat a good stand up comedian.
I wonder how much it would cost to have him do a routine at a party? I’ve been asked to book a comedian for my brother’s 25th birthday party. Sometimes I’m a bit hit and miss with stand up comedians but Jason reminds me of a young Dave Chapelle, similar energy levels. Does anyone know of any good low budget comedians to book? If I can’t get hold of anyone with this sort of booming talent I guess I’ll have to hire a musician or something.
Massive Chris Rock fan. If I wanted to book a comedian and had a spare million pounds or so I would be on his case night and day! This film isn’t the sort of thing I would have expected from Chris. Stand up comedians I’m sure make jokes about hair…but you’re average comic will not go on the make a documentary on it. That’s where Chris Rock is different, he is anything but average! Even watching a documentary will become a comedy night.

First of all it’s ishi not yishi.
“Despite the fact that this will be Lazee’s introduction to the UK, the Swedish star has been around for some time. Hold On went Gold in Sweden and reached number two in the iTunes chart. The track reached as far as the States and caught the ear of Fred Durst who flew Lazee out to record another version of the track”
It wasn’t “Hold On” it was Lazee’s debut single “Rock Away” and they made a remix of that track + another track for Fred’s album.
I was involved in the filming of one of the episodes at Portland – the project was all about giving the inmates more skills to prevent re-offending and reclaim their future. Ours was specifically about helping the inmates develop anger management for those who were normally aggressive in responding to confrontational situations -and conversely to help develop assertive skills for those that needed assistance to handle peer pressure. The young men we dealt with all responded well and were very keen never to return to the intimidating environment of Portland HMYOI. Well done to the Portland HMYOI team, especially Barry Clark who was very supportive of what we were trying to achieve – and of course to Ian Wright who had the courage and commitment to challenge and help create opportunity for these young men. According to the CIPD, (April 2009) it has been estimated that a fifth of the working population has a criminal record. We all make mistakes. I’m looking forward to seeing the series.

Love these lists but would have liked to have seen Baroness Amos in the womens list and Tim Campbell in the men. Amos has been repping black women in politics for year and her grace in public speaking is supreme. Tim Campbell (1st apprentice winner) is also a titan of inspiration in black Britain, has set up a great foundation that gives back to the community and holds him self with the classiest swagger on road.

He has been in power for almost a year now and even though I haven’t seen a big change, I believe his sincerity, wishes and efforts towards peace is the reason for why he recieved this award. This award clearly represents the difference between Obama and Bush.

As 23 year old black Tottenham resident who has lived under Bernie Grant and D Lammy. I take personal offence to him being on this list for the simple fact that he is a bad constituency MP and has done nothing to really encourage politic activity from black ppl. He merely used Tottenham as a oneway ticket to Gordon Brown’s ….

Gaia,
Look out of town! Rich Bankers (with a W) are all you will find in busy city such as London.
It’s a shame the date didn’t go to plan, please have words with your friend who hooked you up with a married doctor…..
May I suggest going for drinks with female friends to Surrey & trying your luck, I had a very good relationship with someone out of town and found the fact that we both had very different lifestyles & living in completely different environments allowed us to stay very interested in each other.
Don’t give up on men but don’t look where you have already searched….
Good luck in your quest, I find your articles very engaging and enjoyable to read!

Not to be rude, but these girls look a bit hoodrat 101, you have the two with the fake tans, the blonde girl who likes she just hopped off some estate and the black one who looks like she works the night shift at mcdonalds, they’re sound is too americanised which is shame because they can all actually sing and they don’t very refined- like they could be video girls for some budget channel u artist.
the black one needs to put on a bit of weight and get a hairweave.
the blonde one needs to lose a bit of weight and go for more pastel colors and take off the fake tan and the orange ones need to take off the tan, one of them needs to lighten her hair because they look too alike.
i hate that they have a song called swagga because it isn’t a britsh phrase and for me- they’re sound is unoriginal and sounds like they’re ripping off some third rate version of a hoodrat version of Destiny’s Child-minus Beyonce (yes its that bad.)

Firstly I would like to clap for you in attempting to tackle and highlight this issue in your mag, however your article is a little vacant in its account.
You have failed to account for the real source behind the creation of Israel which is Zionism and the 1917 Balfour Declaration, which came before WW2 and the persecution of Jews, Blacks and all other foreigners in Germany as a physical manifestation of the eugenic paradigm that swept North America and Western Europe.
There is no mention of the King David bombing by the Irgun, killing British soldiers among other tourists, and your history jumps from the 60s to the 90s, plus many other key parts are missing.
There is one very good part of your article and that is the diagram, which actually tells the real story of events. Most people, WRONGLY, believe the conflict is based on religion i.e. Muslims vs Jews; this is a smoke screen. The conflict is in fact based on occupancy and indeed an invasion. Maybe you should publish another article or organise a debate… Nice effort anyway…

If you like Saved by the Bell, why not read quality SBTB ebooks for free? Take a look what you will find on http://www.funfanfiction.com “Screech Tells All” Lisa Turtle, a beautiful African-American teen, loved good looking boys and expensive clothing, but she herself was not sure as to which one she preferred most. She was easily the wealthiest of all of her friends in Bayside High, but sometimes she did not feel as though she was reaping the rewards of her good fortune. It was Sunday afternoon, and all of her friends, although poorer than she, were at the beach soaking up some rays and drinking colas, while she was stuck in the hospital emptying foul smelling bedpans and handing out magazines. Lisa did not do this volunteer work out of any great sense of compassion, nor out of any need to feel that she was giving back to the community. Her parents’ enthusiasm for that deftly made up for any lacking of hers in that department. How often they would grind in her ear about how fortunate they were, and how they should look for ways to help out the community that had been so good to them. It seemed to Lisa that they were feeling a little bit guilty about being relatively well-off. It is true that both of her parents had dreamed of becoming doctors when they grew up so that they could do some good in this world. It wasn’t their fault that the price of that dream was to be plagued with a pretty nifty income. Continued http://www.funfanfiction.com

With diseases, unwanted pregnancies and the potential emotional complications of sex, it is no wonder every holy book advocates it only within the sanctity of marriage/monogamy.
People of Jewish faith believe that sex with partners before marriage de sensitises one to their ultimate partner with every sexual partner. Which one of us hasnt compared the technique, size or prowess of a partner against another? I believe there is some truth in that.
buffy on

In relation to equalaity of the sexes – male or female; we value most what doesnt come easy to us and treat it better too. Primark vesus Gucci is a good case in point. In any interaction we want to feel we have been valued as an individual for our positives attributable only to us.
Be you male or female if a person wants to sleep with you before you feel you have 'earned' a place in their affections or they have seen you for you, you lose a little respect for that person and what they are about. Dont get me wrong I am not saying sex early on will always lead to disappointment, but if you think about your best first encounters and how comfortable you felt with it and the other person after the event it was because you felt they got you – even if only for that short period.
Whether we like it or not the issue of sex will never be as cut and dry as some of us would like it to be. It is an intimate act designed for procreation. Procreation is necesary for our survival. Emotions are mother natures by product. How can that ever be cut and dry?
Thank you for your comments Buffy. Sex is always an issue where young people are concerned. its one of those double edge swords when there is no wrong or right answer.
Be sure to check out the other articles you may find this one interesting…
Yes it is definitely a scary world. Teenage pregnancy and promiscuity in the UK are of huge concern and I think that we need to go back to basics when it comes to sex education for our children and making sure that teenagers and adults are all aware of the various forms of contraception out there as well as STIs and also taught to respect themselves, their bodies and others.
ccc Reply: March 25th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
SPOT on Annika…..people talk about contraception like its soul purpose is to prevent pregnancy.
What about the STI's?! They need to realise sex education is about more than telling young women they need to get on the pill…

Why bother having a magazine that just promotes everything within the genre it represents.
Justifying it's own existence perhaps, or just congratulating it's narcisistic back slapping, blog happy mates for simply getting off their arse and doing something. Whether it be a completely misguided film, or some poorly produced track with rapping that is tantamount to mere nursery rhymes over a basic speak n spell beat.
Putt that in your twitter pipe and smoke it!

Bit of a sensationalist article. Was it sponsored by pro-life groups?
Figures are a bit vague too – "Abortions in the UK have reached record levels – almost 200,000 a year in England and Wales – a rate second only in the western world to the US."
The US is a much bigger country so if you're comparing the two you really need to look at how many women that is out of, rather than just saying England and Wales has more or less than other countries.
The journalist should also have looked at other reasons why girls and women may be having multiple abortions rather than only interviewing people who suggest it is as an example of laziness. Sounds to me like these females have very little self esteem if they can't even be bothered to sort out contraception for themselves before having sex.
And putting a scan picture of a foetus on is just tacky.
Is that to try and guilt us all into seeing these women as evil?
You haven't captioned it, but that looks to me like a foetus who is pretty well-formed, ie. way past the point at which an abortion would be allowed.
What a shame. When I saw the front of this magazine I felt quite interested by it and was hoping it would provide something new for the market.
On the strength of this one article (admittedly not the whole mag) it seems you are seeking to appeal to all the old lowest common denominators of prejudice, knee-jerk reactions and Daily Mail sensibilities.

I don't want this to come across as rude or aggressive but if you were not ashamed why haven't you given your real name?
I guess the pill failed me but even though i was 18 I was working, had somewhere to live & a partner – it was a no brainer… my 'baby' is now 5, I'm still working, still have a social life. Not saying that I am planning more anytime soon – BUT i made sure that I wasn't put in a position where abortion is even an option. Thats not for religious reasons but when there are so many people struggling to have children, for medical reasons etc…. how can someone so flippantly get rid of life when so many struggle to bring kids into the world? Someone close to me currently in remission from a horrible and aggressive cancer basically found out that she won't be able to have kids now….she put her ability to have children over her own health – and still couldn't have them. I wouldn't even point her in the direction of this article as she didn't get a choice….
My point is a baby is not the end of your life but something that gives you more focus ambition and drive to succeed. It wouldn't be easy, but if it did happen to me again abortion wouldn't cross my mind. I am big enough and confident in myself to know that whatever 'barriers' there may be in raising a kid – I can handle them.

Have you ever thought of merging with another magazine and taking this mainstream. There are Tramp, Talent or RWD that come to mind as you are high in both catergories and the third is well similar to Flavour.
See you soon
I am loving this article on JD, its great its inspiring. I watch his drive and motivation to succeed and makes me check myself as an artist and entertainer to see what else I can do to push harder for what I want. Good one FLAVOUR I think this is definitely an article that must be read and will inspire many. JD has shown us what the UK industry may show us as impossible is actually POSSIBLE.

Love these clothes and the colours. So nice.
Love your thoughts Annika.
I am so proud to be part of a generation, throughout the globe, who have accepted (and the americans who voted for) a black president.
Hopefully this will be a wake up call to everyone, that people are people, and whatever their colour, creed, age, sex or physicality we all have something to give to this world, and the people we touch within it. Strength comes from within, wherever we are from, and belief in that inner strength can take us anywhere!
Good luck Obama.

Just want to say as a producer, you have to also recognize that Ray J has an excellent ear for beats. So many tracks lesser artists would pass on, Ray can hear its full potential, and then deliver a performance that will keep it spinning in the club. Big props!
i found your blog intresting however the fact that obama is of dual heritage i feel has no bearing on the fact that he was made priesdent.
How do i become a model for flavour magazine?
Send an email to info@flavourmag.co.uk and attach a couple of pictures of yourself along with your contact details.
Peace’n'Love
Mike
Mike,
Thanks for your positive comments above, they were received in a respected and appreciated light.
OBAMA said ‘YES WE CAN’….SO LETS DO IT – MAKE A CHANGE!
you go girl, sasha has grown up so well and has worked really hard in all what she sets out to do so im not at all suprised she won….but on the other hand wooooow well done sasha man im proud of u girl and proud to know miss flavour looool…..But u keep doin u hun….and well done again…

I’m digging this article, i’ve meet him a couple of times and his really down to earth and cool. The sky is not just the limit with him and he now knows all his hard work is paying off. His working with alot of Big guns and i’ve known about his work with Rah Digga, Busta and Bishop…
Got to love Flavour for showing him love and maybe opening the eyes to alot of people who did not know…

Too old comes to mind but then again you think of all them legends who still perform in Vegas. I think his pushing it a bit too much as well was the last time he performed?
We know his in debt and this tour is gonna pay some bills no doubt and i’ve just heard there planning the tour for next year as well…i’ve seen him live once and that was at the prime of his life (BAD Tour) this guy has earned his title King of Pop….i loved it…
He won’t be busting all the moves like he use to but i still think he will put on a show plus the special guest rumoured to perform such as JT and Ne-yo so far..but who knows…

Great article Kevin!

Hi Fenix
We think you look and sound great. Thanks for wearing Apple Bottoms in the video.
Fantastic article, how interesting to read all of the information that Lea has given. Liked the tips on what tweezers were recommended as I have bought so many that do not work. I will give them a try! Look forward to further articles by Lea.
really interesting article i have the most difficulty with my eyebrows and these tips are just what I needed so thanks again and i look forward to more useful information.
That is soo so true – but the industry makes it hard for new musicians to speak there mind and sing what they really would like to sing, most artists these days a manufactured products of their record labels and end of being totally different from the vision they had in mind when they first started.
But can you blame them? we all have to eat – don’t we??
I totally I agree with both of you – on one hand you want to be yourself and promote your music, but on the other hand if you don’t have a record deal, or you do have a record deal and they want you to be a certain way, then you have to go with your contract…

I agree with you too…
Yeah for real – its hard to have both, especially when you first stat out in the music business
Did any newspaper/broadcaster publish/air this photo or remotely picked up on it’s significance?

This is one of those ‘YES BREDRIN’ moments – priceless, the picture speaks volumes it really does.
The importance of Obamas presence on the world stage surpasses all expectations.
If there is a day in his life when this policeman is bursting with pride- its clearly this one… I hope he has a copy of this pic for his family.

Into my wardrobe comes Billy Boyce out onto oxfam goes my American Apparels or perhaps the bin.
Incroyable!
These designs are visually stunning, and very attention grabbing, which is extremely important in fashion. Billy Boyce Clothing is sure to be a big hit with urban youth and trend setters. I want a pair of those harem pants.

Hands down the best music duo that has hit the scene. Much love and respect to Fresh As Tommi (F.A.T) & the Mo-Am Masters camp.
Best scene was in the 1st when Turbo was sweeping outside the shop and he did that dance with the broom, i’ve watched it so many times….that is history right there….the battles r great…not the biggest fan of the 2nd one but if i had to pick a scene it would be Turbo again when it looked like he was upside down dancing….love that…
Big up F.A.T doing big, good luck for the future. Holla at your boy if you want to collab
they are a cool group i love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it true that dappy has cancer
This movie was the shit!!! I very much enjoyed it!

If you have other links related to this could you post them for me?

What Amanda C. Gillespie is doing is illegal and a misdemeanor in New York. The fact she promotes she has a lawyer reviewing her work makes her acts even worse and makes this lawyer liable for aiding in the unauthorized practice of law. My advice to her clients is to be very careful and go to a real immigration lawyer.

A Team ummm i’m itching to find out who is gonna be who as the last rumour i heard was that Common was gonna play Mr T (errrr hell no to that idea), i know one of the guy’s from Hangover is playing Face. For you have to have Jim Carrey as Murdock.
THANK YOU

A cure for Dandruff is Witch Hazel. Soak cotton ball with the hazel and dab it on your head. Or you can wash your hair with witch hazel. Either way works just fine. Do this for about a week and you’ll be dandruff free. Do it once every 3 days.

Hi,
I don’t suppose anyone knows if the ICE-T / Glove rap from the first battle is available as an MP3?
Always wanted that since i first saw the movie!

It wasn’t “Hold On” it was Lazee’s debut single “Rock Away” and they made a remix of that track + another track for Fred’s album.
sash u look lovely in this pic.. xx sam
I’m looking forward to seeing the series.
great read was really interesting…great pics too Miss Leigh! :~)

Keep up the good work

It’s great that Barack Obama has won The Nobel Peace Prize.

R&A- Rhythm and Anything i love it as its so true with today’s music….
That tune wicked!
great article! very relatable and a great read, bubbly and energetic.
looking forward to the follow ups on this x
Gaia,
Look out of town!
Good luck in your quest, I find your articles very engaging and enjoyable to read!
x
true talk, flashy new technology dnt last even the manufacturer and suppliers know. this is why they ask u to take out insurance…same with flashy Men and Woman..they dnt last..lol
Good Read, !
That’s deep gaia… It show’s that there ain many of us decent guys around if you girls are constantly chopping and changing.. we all seem to have our own agenda and we need to find who we are first before pursuing that journey.
Not all in a club is bad … met my missus in a club but then is a different era to now.
Chance encounters or the quiet one in the club with nothing to prove, the one not scouting? Thats the ticket…
SO TRUE!!! Does Mr Right even exist these days???It’s like I’ve exhausted all the possible ways you can meet a guy, and I still haven’t found what I’m looking for!!! I guess I’ll just have to settle for Mr Right-Now for the time being…
Can’t wait for the next article!!!! Xx
Now i’m really interested to hear more of your experiences,
really really exciting!
Part 2 succeeded part 1,
please don’t keep me waiting tooo long for the nxt 1
This is a very nicely worded piece well done Toya, Reem, keep doing your thing, i think i saw you at the mobo’s with Su-Elise last year, the dress you made her was so elegant.
So proud of you babes!
reem puts the work in – i follow 5′5 girl ina 5′10 world all the time and u can see how it grows with her- great stuff flavour
Ive known you for about seven years now…and i don’t know anyone who works as hard as you do. Your motivation to go out there and make your dream come true is inspiring to everyone who meets you.
x
You have done extremely well to have made it this far at the age of 22 without any handouts. Your doing it all on your own babygirl, congrats
ur an inspiration, i wish u the best of luck with everything u do in ur life!
sounds like your love life is very interesting … unlike the rest of us
i think your experiences are part of what the modern london has to offer…. its 2009/10
tradition has been out the window since 05 ….. lol
im so happy finally some decent music back!!! I loved so solid the 1st time and if this single is anything to go by they will be great again.cant wait for the album
OMG!! BoyzIIMen have still got it…I want someone to make love to me in a cornfield dayuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am so gonna be at that 2010 tour….
Silvar is running tings…bad boy for reeeel!
They are still hitting it as a threesome but want that fourth member back!!! Wicked article LMAO at driving into a cornfield….creates some visual LOL!!!!!
I can relate to this article, you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your Mr right. I struck gold with my guy he’s Jamaican, gorgeous, hardworking, funny, does DIY and even cooks what more could a girl ask for.
yeah but we aint all that lucky girl….I’m still looking…am “dating” a Nigerian guy….and yes he does expect me to be a demon in the kitchen (fufu anyone?), keep the house….and work it out in the bedroom….the boy does nothing though! tired of these frogs! need my prince ASAP!

Your pics r amazing bianca.told ya I’m gonna check u out.mmm
I’m not a fan of theirs but this is a good feature!
Where are the reviews on the black comedy awards? I have not heard a thing. NOTHING!
This video is so funny lol, love it.
Got the album and absolutely love it. An absolutly God Blessed girl. You will definately see me at the her next show!
excellent stuff michaela is an inspiration to many
Olly Olly Olly, oi oi oi! He has to win!! Sexiest X Factor contestant ever- fact!!!!!
Stacey is def winning! Love how Dannii is finally stealing Cheryls thunder in the style stakes
you live a very interesting night life
Where did you meet her?
That’s interesting because: Originally people said NikeID wouldn’t work because it’s too custom. Then when it worked, they said it would work only on the Internet, not in stores where people want to get a shoe on the spot.

This party is gonna be HOT!

I want a ticket to the applebottom fashion event on January 14th 2010 please. The reason I would like to attend the event is because I am a future fashion star stylist and Fashion PR in the making and already half way to success. I am creative, hard working, determained and very success driven, that is why I have some the best people in the fashion industry from USA and UK have me on speed dial eg. my mentor and haute couture fashion style creator & art director Mohieb,LA Celeb stylist Mr. Bradshaw, New york designer Pnina Tornai, Ellite Model managment plus I am PR to lady gaga’s and Rihanna’s designer StevieB.
I will bring fun and glamour to the event and I reckon I will be featured in Flavour in the near future.

SPOT on Annika…..people talk about contraception like its soul purpose is to prevent pregnancy.
What about the STI's?! They need to realise sex education is about more than telling young women they need to get on the pill…
"I want a ticket" – GIMME, GIMME, GIMME!!! pretty please……?
wow, I read this link then I did the Google search and yes as soon as I typed "why" that question came up… so I clicked one of the links and it lead me on an interesting education path and enlightened me on my lunch break. Thanks for posting this….
In addition my Google trail led me to the cartoon "coal black" I know I'm jumping on this late but that cartoon is disgusting it's probably one of the most racist videos I've ever seen in my life I'm shocked that the black actors of the day agreed to voice the parts but then it was 1942 and bills needed paying.. but still….
you can watch it here

On the strength of this one article (admittedly not the whole mag) it seems you are seeking to appeal to all the old lowest common denominators of prejudice, knee-jerk reactions and Daily Mail sensibilities.
once or twice is unfortunate, maybe a bit careless and somewhat unfortunate, but 9 times is just stupid. I don't care what way you want to paint it. That woman is obviously an idiot.
